COMPUTER AND OUR SOCIETY:

Some people say that computers have made life easier and more convenient. Other people say that computers have made life more complex and stressful. In these days no one can go out without computer our world becoming small in size because of Computer networking.  Some people say that the invention of computers is one of the greatest humankind’s inventions. However, other people think that computers make their life more stressful. Many people beliefs that computers brought many benefits and play a very important role in our modern life.

First of all, every company, organization, academic institutions, nowadays uses a computer to store its data and make different kinds of operations. It is very difficult to imagine life without computers. A company would have to store millions of papers and documents. Moreover, a customer would have to wait hours to check his balance or get a piece of information about his transactions at his bank, while an employee was looking trough those papers. Another important aspect of this is that people are able to type all their information, make corrections, print or send documents using computers. It makes life much easier. One can spend the rest of the time watching TV with his family or working on something new. We use computers every day sometimes even not knowing it. When we go to a store and use our credit cards many computers process our information and perform transactions. When we need to get some cash we use money access machines that are computerized too.

Secondly, computers provided a great means of communication - the Internet. We all know that it is the easiest and cheapest way to get in touch with relatives, friends, business colleagues, etc. Nowadays the world becomes smaller and smaller,  by using social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter a person can get latest news, become friends with someone from another country, find his old friends, ask for a piece of advice, etc.

Facebook  and its Craze

The founder of popular social networking website Facebook is Mark Elliot Zuckerberg (born May 14, 1984). He is an American computer programmer and internet entrepreneur. Zuckerberg is the chairman and chief executive of Facebook, Inc. and in 2013 his personal wealth was estimated to be US$16.8 billion. Zuckerberg launched Facebook on February 4, 2004.  It is come from, “The Photo Address Book”.

Social networking sites, most notably Facebook have become so popular today that they are the leading words on the lips of every one specially teenager. Having a Facebook account and using it extensively to interact with friends and loved ones has become the next most important thing to consuming food.  Facebook has more than 750 million users today. You love to spend most of your time checking your Facebook updates, but have you ever check negative aspect  of using Facebook? Just check it out.

Facebook Generation

The very characteristic and features of this social networking website that enable people to interact, build relationships and share cool messages, photos, links, videos and updates has given birth to a new generation called the Facebook generation. This generation thrives on Facebook updates and friendship and desperately awaits response to their personal updates, photos and messages. But what this Facebook generation fails to understand is that, all of this is affecting their psychology, mind and above all life. So, if you belong to the Facebook generation, you have to know negative impacts of using Facebook too .

Ø Facebook generation is Self-Obsessed

According to some of the top scientists of the world, Facebook is giving rise to a new generation of people who are self-obsessed and eagerly wait for feedback and response. The Facebook generation is in fact dealing with problems such as short attention span and crave for nothing but feedback, which is not a very healthy sign as per these very scientists. They are also of the opinion that increased exposure to Facebook can leave the Facebook generation with an identity crisis.

Ø Facebook generation have a very susceptible Mind

The pace at which people are becoming friends on Internet and using computer to play games may be affecting their brains negatively. Facebook generation is struggling to maintain their concentration levels, their non-verbal skills for example, ability to make eye contact while holding conversations is also on the decline. This is leading to the creation of susceptible minds, which is definitely not a positive sign.

Ø Facebook generation Lives in a Virtual World

The saddest part about Facebook generation is that they have started to live in virtual world. The craving for admiration and being watched by others on Facebook is so intense that they begin to do things that will help them become popular on Facebook. Even though they are physically present in the real world, the Facebook generation finds real world boring and have practically started to reside in the virtual world. All they want is people to visit their Facebook page and appreciate their updates, photos and ideas. This isn’t a great accomplishment for the Facebook generation. All they care about is the opinion of their friends on Facebook and not what they really think they are.

Ø Facebook generation More Likely to Show Extreme Behaviour

Given the fact that for the Facebook generation life is really fast paced and is constantly changing every now and then, they are more likely to show more extreme behaviour. The Facebook generation loves the virtual world more in comparison to that of the real world and it is unlikely that they will be able to develop concentration and focus on things for too long. This generation is far more impulsive than the one that does not believe in or have ever used Facebook for socializing.

If we use Facebook simply to communicate, get to know each other and to share views and news with friends, family and relatives that is fine, unless the excessive use of it to pass time surely it will not good for us.
